This plant also grows beside our creek. I don't believe it gets much, if any sun. It grows between 2 to 3 feet tall and has teardrop shaped flowers. Except the teardrops face up (they don't drop).

Definitely in the Mint Family. Does it have a scent?

The stems are very defined. They are rectangular in shape. When I crushed the leaves, I really couldn't smell anything. I'll wait until my husband gets home tonight for a second opinion.

Scutellaria laterifolia, Blue Skullcap, fits the description well.

I'm sure it is a skullcap. I looked up Scutellaria laterifolia on DG and could only find Virginia Skullcap. Is Virginia Skullcap the same as Blue Skullcap?

Yes indeed. It is native from Canada to Florida though.

Thank you so much. I'm still new to DG and I'm so amazed by the people who "live" here.
