It may be Lythrum lineare. Are there any flowers to show?

what about a Milkweed. tear off a leaf...if white stuff oozes out, it could be Milkweed.

I'll check on oozing stuff but it doesn't look like a milkweed to me, not that I know much of anything...I wish it would bloom. The hyssop lythrum looks like a possibility.

Definitely not milkweed; they have opposite leaves, this has alternate leaves. Sorry, don't know what it is though.

No oozing white stuff. Lythrum it is; will await blooms to determine more.

Here's another photo. I am thinking this is a marshelder, something in the Iva genus, rather than Lythrum. Perhaps the I. angustifolia. (That's the only type with images in PlantFiles.

Here's another photo. This is a different cutting, and it looks a bit different. But the plant's overall appearance is the same as the first cutting's plant. Another type of marshelder?

Thanks for the photos. You are right Decklife, the flowering plant looks very much like Iva imbricata.

What makes poverty-weed noxious? I think this is the I. imbricata. I wish I had a better way to i.d. plants. I just happened to see the "sumpweed" photos in "Wildflowers and Other Plants of Texas Beaches and Islands" by Richardson, and said "oh, that's what's growing in that vacant lot."
Thanks, Metro!
