it has tiny flowers, but it doesn't have the typical evil looking weed appearance. and it has no fragrance, either.

You might try this website for an ID...California Wildflowers. There is an option to search by flower color.

I believe, it could be a willowherb, Epilobium. But don't know which sort. The leaves seem to be bright and gleaming ?

Yep, definitely Epilobium. Usually considered a weed, but if you like it, keep it. It won't do any harm.

Good call Suse! It does look like an Epilobium. Maybe Epilobium ciliatum, Common Willow Herb.

mm, are you sure about that? epilobium has purple flowers, the one that i have has tiny tiny white flower which you can see on the top right side.

well, at least, i now know that it is a weed.

Epilobium ciliatum has white to rose-purple flowers. The leaves have serrulated margins with at least 15 teeth on each side.

And it can have whitish looking flowers too--I've got some here too and the flowers are a very pale pink almost looking white. Here are some pics from Calflora, if you look through all the images within each entry you'll see some color variation. [HYPERLINK@www.calflora.org]
