Hi Folks.

We have not been able to grow cucumbers in our garden due to soil conditions, heavy clay. We tried in cut off barrels, and no luck. They planted with sand in the bottom, then potting soil, and some holes drilled in the sieds, so they do not get water logged.

What is wrong, not growing.

All help appreciated.

WJB, this forum is to help members identify their "mystery plants." You might get more help with your cucumber problem if you post it over on the Beginner Vegetables forum here: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]

Good luck!

Try mixing your sand with peat moss, half & half. If you're buying medium, use Pro-Mix BX. You need to feed your plants!

Don't grow your Cucumbers in heavy clay soil. Grow your Cucurbits in organic soil!

Looks like they might be getting powdery mildew in photo # 2. I see they are flowering; try hand-pollinating the flowers with a small paint brush. They also seem to be in the shade at least part of the day.
