I have this Scotch heather I really like but would like to know the name of it, if it possible. I would like to add it to plant files.

That is a beautiful plant! There are over a hundred listed in the Plant Files data base: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com] Maybe you can scroll through some of the pictures and find a match to your plant.

Scots heather is usually used as the common name for Calluna not Erica, although we might need a little closer shot of your plant to decide which one this is. If it's Calluna, it's most likely a cultivar of C. vulgaris, and since there are a number of pink ones I don't know that you'll be able to get a sure ID down to the cultivar level.

Either Heather Calluna vulgaris or Bell Heather Erica cinerea, but not quite enough detail in the photo to see which it is. Can you do a close-up of the foliage please?

Also please note that the spelling "scot*h" is offensive to people in Scotland and shouldn't be used (with the single exception of whisky) - the correct spelling is Scots, as Ecrane gives.

There are quite a few Calluna listed in Plant Files too: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]

Maybe someone should notify PF Admin. about the spelling, all the ones I noticed are spelled Scotch instead of Scots.

This is one that grows all over down here in Florida. Not really a Heather but the common name is Mexican Heather. Cuphea hyssopifolia: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]

edited to say: I really think yours is one of the Calluna.

It looks like Calluna vulgaris 'H.E. Beal'.

I appreciate the advice on "Scots' vs the impolite 'Scotch'. The latter is a widely used term in American nurserys for Calluna vulgaris, unfortunately. I'm sure no offense is meant, but ignorance is not an excuse.
