How about a Bossiaea sp = Family Fabaceae
I have been in Townsville. My husband, daughter and I went to Magnetic Island, 8 years ago. I lived in Kwajalein (Republic of the Marshall Islands).

I think your pea is Siratro of the Purple Bush-bean - Macroptilium atropurpureum: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]
which is quite a common roadside weed in northern New South Wales and Queensland,
