I just received my first plants from Garden Crossings. I ordered daylilies. When I opened the box I was surprised to see the green foliage filling the box all the way to the top. They were in very large pots, expertly packed and properly labled. I am very satisfied with my first order from this company and happy to give a positive review.

WOW!!! After seeing so many poitive experiences and visiting there great web site, I gave an order for eight heucheras on Sunday. That following Wed. I had eight huge plants delivered in perfect condition. There prices are excellent, similar to nurserys in the area, and the selection of plants is outstanding. I have placed numerous orders with Garden Crossings for Clematis. Their website is easy to navigate, the ordering process is excellent. And, they are quick to respond to an e-mail. I hated to hear the negative response, but this happens sometimes. I am very pleased with my business dealings with them. Oh, and I just received my latest shipment, 7/11/08 and even had blooms on one of the plants, and the packaging well it was over the top as usual. When ordering by mail you would expect to have scrawny plants sometimes [yes, I've been given a reality check a time or 2 with other vendors] but I'm always pleased with Garden Crossings, good root system, healthy plants. The shock of transporting any plants, especially large plants is to be expected, not to mention the cost of shipping large plants. I guess you could call me a fan.

I placed my first order with Garden Crossings last week. At the time, they were running a special: no shipping charges for orders over $100. My order was over $100, so I expected no shipping charges. It turned out that one of the plants ordered was no longer available. My order dropped below $100 and shipping charges were added back and charged to my credit card. Garden Crossings caught this snafu themselves, called me to explain the error, and credited my account for the shipping.

My plants arrived today and I'm very pleased. They were really good sized and packed well. As best I can tell, they suffered little during transit. I will order from Garden Crossings again.

I placed two orders with this company for the first time this year. Both orders arrived in a timely manner, well packed, in excellent condition. The plants are indeed large and healthy as advertised. Shortly after the first order arrived a poppy died (they can be very difficult to transplant and keep going). They gave me a generous credit for future orders. When they offered a free shipping special I placed a second order which arrived in three days again in superb condition. The cone flowers are especially strong. While the prices may seem high they are comparable to other high end companies and the plants are considerably stronger and larger than most web companies. I will definitely order from this company again as they offer unique perennials. Their customer service has also proven to be outstanding and caring.

I ordered one plant in Dec 07, and in between then and the time they shipped my credit card expired. In between this time I placed an order for 320.00 w/ a different credit card. They contacted me telling me the order for one plant wouldn't go through (25.00) so I provided them with my debit card, and next thing I know they charged both orders to my debit card, when I contacted them I was told by one of the owners that it couldn't be reversed even though when I emailed them I only authorized them to charge my card for the 25.00 not the 320.00 (it has posted to both my charge card and debit card). I will be contacting my credit union to fight this charge, seeing as how I never gave them permission to charge that amount to my debit card this will affect the money in my bank account that I have written checks against. I will be deeply disappointed if this matter can't be resolved in the few days with the Garden Crossings staff. I am not refusing to pay for the order, I just want them to charge it to the card I provided them with.

It will be such a shame because I have to find a company that's farther away from me, and that probably won't provide plants in such good condition.

Received my order, my 3 gallon hydrangea is 95% dirt. They seem to have potted a 5.5 inch plant in a 3 gallon container. Both plants have black spot, wilted, bone dry, very few healthy shoots or roots. needless to say I gave these away, and after one of the owners rude customer service, I will never deal with this company again, I don't think Chad Walters works here anymore? He was a great guy with excellent customer service. If he does I would pay to deal with him again, not the rest of these people.

this is the first time I dealt with Rod, the owner and his customer service skills are excellent. After some thought the hydrangeas were the only plants I ever received from GC in sub par condition, and everything else I ever planted has stayed alive. I will continue to purchase from GC and next time think before I post such a hot headed review

When my order came, it arrived in two different boxes on two different days, even though they had been sent together. The first box had both annuals and perennials and was perfect. The next day my second box of plants looked very much the worse for wear. The plants were disheveled and torn up, and a lot of them were DOA. So I sent en email describing the vast difference in the plants I received and got an immediate response. All of the plants that were trashed were replaced within a week, and the replacements were healthy, even though I worried about Fed Ex getting them to me. I wonder if Fed Ex isn't to blame since all the orders were packaged the same. If so, I hope the company got reimbursed as well. I will continue to order from Garden Crossings because they care about their customers and the plants are quality plants.

But hydrangeas have been slower to take off.
The company is as advertised. I wish they would post shipping rates for regions upfront instead of placing it in shopping cart to find out (I like to shop for S/H charges).
I also wish they had more coupons/discounts available online.
Prices are reasonable, but not super cheap. You can usually get better deals at local nurseries. But if you have specific plants in mind, this is a reliable mail order company.

I bought two salvias, and they arrived in the worst shape that plants can arrived in. Obviously, the plant's been tossing around in the box, bruised leaves, roots just dangling from the plant, dry soil all over the box.
I called them and they first told me something along the lines of - go ahead and plant them into the ground, water them really good, and chances are they'll come out fine. I was not happy with that answer at all. So they did send a replacement immediately.
Guess what, the replacement arrived in the same condition! Dry soil all over the place.
They have been in business for just a couple of years, and obviously, packaging is still something they have to work on making better.
I'm not going buy from them again.

The plants were large, beautiful, and vigorous. -Maybe one of the two clematis could have been stronger but it is still good and healthy. The roots were in soil in plastic pots and secured with rubberbands. Pricing was excellent. This was my first time ordering from GC. I will post a follow-up in the spring.

I ordered 10 plants and each arrived perfectly packed -- they were each bigger and more lush, by far, than any plant I've gotten from any other online seller, including ones with the highest ratings here. As a midwesterner, it's nice to order from a company that's nearby so the plants don't have to travel across the country in unpredictable weather. They don't have the widest or rarest selection, at least not right now (Fall catalog), but I very much appreciate the fact that their standard sized plants are considerably larger than the norm for mailorder and in some cases come in 1 gallon containers. Plus, since my order was over $75, shipping was free. The plants arrived 3 business days after I placed my order. I'm absolutely delighted and wish I'd ordered more from them.

Sorry to bust the 100/100 score but the most recent order that i received was LOUSY!!!

I had orderd some coleus, which showed up with all their tops cut off to fit in the box. The packing was lousy, it looks like the plants are all in shock with many broken branches and lost leaves.

The perilla "Gage's Shadow" all look very root bound in their small containers and are also in shock.

Aslo on that order were some strobilanthes "Persian Sheild' also with their tops cut off.

The only decent plant in the bunch was an euonymus wich was small enough to fix inside the box.

I would give this company an F- in packing, I will see what I can do to save these lousy plants they sent me.

It goes without saying...I wont order from these folk ever again.

I just cannot say enough about how beautiful the plants are when they are received. They are healthy, big. I always get a thrill when I see a Garden Crossing box on my doorstep. And everything I have purchased from them were delived in a timely manner. I have one plant I ordered about two weeks ago and got last week and it is starting to bloom and I am so excited. It is a phlox and I have never had phlox and did not think I could grow a phlox yet there it is in the garden just about to bloom. And I also ordered Joe Pye Weed which I have ordered from somewhere else, not sure where, but which did not live long enough for me to enjoy. This Joe Pye Weed I have great hopes for. Since it is a great butterfly plant I have been wanting one for awhile. This plant has put on so many new leaves it does not even look like the same plant, this is in just over a week. And again, the plant looked awesome when I got it, now it looks even better. Only one minor flaw that I feel I must report. My last order of two plants was shipped on August 27. By September 1 I had not received the order. Now this site has an excellent way of going to your account, checking the status of your order and then tracking the delivery. So I tracked the delivery and FedEx said that the produce arrived here damaged and they were awaiting instructions from the shipper as to what to do. Finally on September 6 I checked again and the plants had been sent back to the company and I have a new ship date of September 11 for my plants. Now my only complaint is that I was never notified by the company about what was going on with my plants. The only way I new was by checking the tracking on the FedEx site. I do appreciate however that they are not willing to send me damaged goods and are doing their best to get them replaced. I would have probably just let these two plants go and not continue with my order but they are two plants I am pretty excited about getting. So just a small glitch in an otherwise awesome mailorder site. And I would still, without hesitation, buy from this one again. I probably shouldn't as I have spent too much money on plants but their plants are just so awesome when you receive them that I cannot help myself. Also the shipping seems to be a lot more reasonable than a lot of other places. I cannot stand buying a packet of 1.25 seeds and it costs 6.00 to ship. So ridiculous. But the shipping a Garden Crossing seems quite reasonable. Great company, would recommend to anyone.

This was the first time I had ever ordered plants by mail order. I think they spoiled me and it will be hard for all other companies to impress me as this one did. I also loved the size of their plants. Because of the intense dry and hot conditions a 2 1/2 inch by 3 inch usually barely makes it here, and always has a tough time getting started here. I have a policy to use only gallon plants, however their 5 inch plants did fine...good root system for sure!
